So, why watercolors + doodles?

Pregnant with my second child, I was determined to keep creating despite my busy life. One day, I opened a box of watercolors at my kitchen counter + began experimenting. As I added doodles over the brush marks, I realized how simple + freeing this process could be.

I was instantly hooked!

That first experiment with watercolors + doodling was a turning point. The simplicity of brushstrokes + playful doodles brought me so much joy + calm amidst the chaos of motherhood.

It became my go-to creative practiceโ€”easy to pick up, flexible with my time + free from perfectionism.

  • "Iโ€™ve taken a bunch [of classes] with Lexis + really enjoyed thoseโ€ฆIโ€™m always looking for new inspiration + especially, I love Lexisโ€™s classes because theyโ€™re all about, like, as aย parent of 4 teenagers, itโ€™s like, get in, get out. You know, get it done + fast.โ€

  • โ€œI have to say I love these emails. I am a mom + when I read your thoughts it's like "yup", "absolutely", "Amen!", the entire time... I struggle with finding time for myself + my passions, so your emails inspire me to keep trying. I also learn a lot aboutโ€ฆhow to incorporate peace, tranquility + staying inspired into my life."

  • โ€œOh my gosh!! It feels so great to get something on paper! I am enjoying this + itโ€™s keeping me from doom scrolling which is part of my goal!"

    Audrey | mom of 3

  • โ€œI tend to be a perfectionist so itโ€™s hard when I have to do things faster but I loved it. It felt good to just let it go, let it go.โ€

Curious about how to create when time feels scarce?

Even in the busiest moments, Iโ€™ve found ways to keep creating.

A woman sitting on the floor sketching on a large piece of paper while two young children draw on the same paper. The woman has long, wavy hair, glasses, and is wearing a patterned sweater. One child is leaning over, drawing with a marker, and the other child is standing nearby, dressed in pajamas with a snowman pattern. The setting appears to be a cozy, cluttered room with books and art supplies on shelves.
